Main Street Baseball and Jersey Nukes Travel Baseball Organizations Combine
East Greenwich, NJ – November 17, 2022 – Main Street Baseball, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization today announced that the Jersey Nukes travel baseball teams and the Main Street Baseball organizations have come together.
The two clubs have had a symbiotic relationship for the past several years, with both organizations training out of Game Day Athletics in Bellmawr, NJ. In addition, Nukes co-founder and Overbrook High School varsity baseball coach, Greg Himes and his staff have worked closely with the Main Street teams and coaches during their winter training.
“Main Street Baseball and the Jersey Nukes bring a shared philosophy toward coaching baseball and player growth that made the decision to combine our resources a natural one,” says Kevin Murphy, co-founder, Main Street Baseball. “In addition to training good ballplayers, we both believe strongly that the lessons learned from baseball are life lessons that carry forward well beyond the ball field.”
The two organizations will continue to play under their respective team names, but operationally will share resources for both baseball and back-end operations.
“The Nukes’ experience with teams at the high school level, paired with Main Street Baseball’s success in youth baseball provides an opportunity for players to start with and stay with an organization throughout their baseball careers,” commented Greg Himes. “Our staff is looking forward to continuing to work side-by-side with Main Street to transition young players to young adults on and off the baseball field.”
Main Street Baseball, Inc. was founded in 2019, playing as the Main Street Mavericks. The organization has since grown to eight total baseball teams ages 8U-13U and in the fall of 2022 added its flagship softball team, the Main Street Swarm. The mission remains to provide competitive baseball and softball programs focused on individual player development, team growth and community involvement.
The Jersey Nukes fielded seven teams spread throughout the 10U to 18U age groups in 2022. The Nukes pride themselves on developing players in the program into college baseball commits with 16 such commitments confirmed over the past few years, nine of whom committed over the past 18 months. By combining with Main Street Baseball, the Jersey Nukes look forward to helping more young players maximize their potential on and off the ball field.
